On June 7, 2021, the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) welcomed its sixth president, Ms. Ma. Angelica Lei G. Bautista.
A turnover ceremony was held to celebrate the change of management. Newly elected PCCR Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Paul Victor Villegas, opened the event. Prof. Rodolfo Valentino Bautista, now President Emeritus, thanked the students, employees, and alumni throughout the years of support to PCCR. Mr. Karim Bangcola, Executive Vice President, presented the two-hour event.
Ms. Bautista, a fourth-generation descendant of PCCR founder Justice Felix Angelo Bautista and a long-time member of the Board of Trustees, has served the institution in several capacities. She started as an intern for the Registrar and Finance Departments and eventually led the Student Affairs Department as director. Currently, she is the head of the Corporate Communications Department and a member of the Executive Committee. She has also done management work for several electronics, marketing, finance, and HR companies in the Philippines, Singapore, and the USA, and has launched several tech start-ups in the country. In her spare time, she performs on stage as a musician, having started the all-girl rock band “Prettier Than Pink” in the mid-1990s.
President Lei relayed exciting plans for PCCR: the expansion of new academic programs aligned with criminal justice education; new learning technologies for students; digitalization of school services; and continuous training and development initiatives for professors and administrative staff, among others.
The new president concluded the day by distributing shirts, facemasks, and healthcare kits featuring the newly launched branding of PCCR to employees of the sixty-seven-year-old institution, the pioneer educational institution in Southeast Asia that offered Criminology education.
