To ensure transparency between stakeholders and the institution, Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) High School Department held an online orientation for parents on October 21, 2022 through the High School Online Bulletin Facebook Page. The two-hour event had over one thousand viewers from all around the world, most of whom were Overseas Filipino Workers.

To0 begin the afternoon’s activities, High School Subject Area Coordinator (SAC) for English, Filipino, Languages and Research Mr. Alvaro Baya gave his welcome remarks. He discussed the new academic year’s curriculum, and reached out to parents who needed clarification on academic concerns and inquiries. To excite the parents further, PCCR’s new facilities (lobby cafe, library, student lounge) as well as the design of the student uniforms for both Junior (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) were presented to the viewers.

Student Affairs and Services Director Romeo Jose Taganas then discussed the Code of Discipline and proper student decorum. He reminded the parents that just because students are not physically in school for the blended learning modality, does not mean the school rules do not apply anymore. On top of the topics of Attendance, Absences, and Class Suspension, Mr. Taganas also covered proper school visit protocols, gave a quick overview of offenses and sanctions, and discussed different student activities.

The Officer-in-Charge/Principal Ms. Dianne Manalili then discussed the bulk of the parents’ orientation, beginning with the introduction of the High School Academic Team and Administrative Officials. She then followed with a thorough discussion on Academic Concerns, Section Assignments, Class Schedules, and Grading System for both the Junior and Senior High School Divisions.

Based on the result of the survey on modality preference conducted in September, 86.5 percent of students chose to participate in face-to-face classes, with the others preferring purely on-line. To accommodate their preference, the HSC will now begin face-to-face classes as part of their blended learning modality in November 2022. Ms. Manalili also reminded the viewers to follow the proper channels of raising their concerns and grievances, beginning from student (or parents/guardians) to their Subject Teacher, then their Adviser, before going to the Subject Area Coordinator, and ultimately to the OIC-Principal.

To close the event, SAC for STEM and ABM Mr. Ryan Bermundo reminded the viewers to continue to support the HSC’s activities year round, and that the event would be on replay for those parents who were not able to attend.

SHS Faculty Ms. Clarabelle Joy Cajegas and HSC Secretary Ms. Ma. Lucy Gamo facilitated the event as emcee and moderator, respectively.
