PCCR and BJMP Contingents present at the MOA Signing

Espousing common beliefs of the betterment and development of their wards, both the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on December 12, 2022 at the BJMP National Headquarters in Quezon City. Led by PCCR President Ma. Angelica Lei Bautista and BJMP Chief Jail Director Allan Iral, the MOA aims to further improve the quality of law enforcement education in PCCR, while also contributing to the welfare and development of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who are locked up in the various provincial, city, and municipal jails run by the BJMP across the country.

To open the program, BJMP Human Resources Director Jail Senior Superintendent Ma. Annie Espinosa warmly welcomed the PCCR contingent, composed of the different heads and officers of the school. Exciting the audience with his rollout of the academic programs was the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Noel Sergio, immediately followed by Student Affairs Director Romeo Jose Taganas, who explained the outreach and extension programs that PCCR prepared for the PDLs.

She also highlighted that the collaboration of both agencies will help to further each others’ missions, with PCCR to provide the best accessible quality of education and BJMP to provide developmental opportunities for PDLs in the promotion of public safety.

In response, BJMP Chief Allan Iral also expressed his gratitude to PCCR, not just for the educational opportunities and scholarships provided by the MOA, but for producing top quality law enforcement agents and officers which are employed across their 477 jail centers and complexes nationwide.
