A recognition of success and excellence was celebrated last November 9, 2023 during the 118th Founding Anniversary of the Bureau of Correction with a theme “Bagong BuCor sa Bagong Pilipinas” which was held in Ayala Alabang Country Club. The event celebrated the continuous success of the Bureau of Correction with the excellent leadership of General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., and its members.

President Ma. Angelica “Lei ” Bautista graced the event, along with the other BuCor stakeholders: the University of Perpetual Help Delta, the Tsu Chi Medical Foundation, the Tagum Agricultural Development Company Incorporated, and Hon. Rozzano Rufino B. Biazon. In her message, she talked about the continuing partnership between the Philippine College of Criminology and the Bureau of Correction. Pres. Lei recognized the ever-growing support of the BuCor towards the endeavors and development of the school. During her message, she cited the story of Senator Robin Padilla- of how he was once a promising actor, was sentenced to eight years in prison for illegal possession of firearms in 1994. President Lei narrated how Robin Padilla found Allah during his stay in the Bureau of Correction and had desired to be a police officer and public servant of our country. This dream was fulfilled through the help and guidance of PCCR where he received his degree in Criminology  and is now serving the country as the number one senator in the last senatorial election.

Immediately following the opening remarks, Gen Pio Catapang and the President Lei Bautista of the Philippine College of Criminology signed the MOA during the event. The Memorandum of Agreement encompasses the partnership between the school and the Bureau of Correction for continuous collaboration on activities, internships, discounts, etc. In addition, the MOA incorporates continuous professional advancement and training for its members, such as the Cybersecurity program, Review Center, Technical Vocational Education, etc. This is crucial to the success and growth of the school, and reinforces the school’s role in building our society.

The event continued with the recognition of BuCor Retirees, followed by the awarding of the model employees, and ended with the message of General Gregorio Pio Catapang JR. In his message, he thanked the supportive members of BuCor, along with the support of President Lei Bautista on the ongoing partnership of the Bureau of Correction with the Philippine College of Criminology. He aspired for this partnership to lead into a more fruitful collaboration towards the good of the public and the country.
