Despite the long absence from active competition due to the pandemic, Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) Men’s Basketball Team showed its winning tradition beginning with a 99-90 win over Malaysia’s Sarawak Basketball Team. Held at the YMCA Gym in Makati, the team defeated the Malaysian contingent in a friendly scrimmage as part of the latter’s preparation for the 2022 Sukma Games.
Now known as the PCCR Serpent Eagles, the Men’s Basketball Team extended its current winning streak to three games, as it defeated World Citi Colleges (WCC) Caloocan, and the Jhelz Team composed of players nominated by movie stars and directors as part of the Celebrity League. The Serpent Eagles defeated WCC by a hair , 93-92, at their homecourt, while they crushed the celebrity-sponsored team, 92-74, at the San Andres Gym in Manila.
PCCR is no stranger to sports championships, with a history of winning streaks. Former head coach Gene Roland “Bang” Tumapat (currently the Sports and Athletics Director) has a legacy of over 20 years of championships with PCCR.
Currently handled by Head Coach Maximino Dayandante Jr., The Serpent Eagles are composed of Medrick Loresto, Paul Bradley Villareal, Gene Jerry Javier, Gyan Andrei Gaviola, Steven Bautista, Alexis Rio, Kurt Russell Natural, Ivyrecson Montejo, Marvin Alvarez, Clarence Gaviola, Christian Jude Sumagpao, John Michael Macaballug, Christian Manipol, Aaron Anicete, Jericho Estrada, Redgimir Eusebio, Peevee Madriaga, John Kenneth Chiu, Mark Arcea Millare, Lester Mupas, RoliDavid Fugen
The Serpent Eagles High School Basketball Team are quickly following in the seniors team’s footsteps as they dominated JCSGO Christian Academy 126-93 at their homecourt.
